      Synopsis

The Henna Housewife Killer continues to evade the police for the murders of red-haired housewives. Dr. Molly Jordon treats Detective Danny Sullivan when he's rushed into her ER with a critical bullet wound. Molly has never experienced a pure carnal reaction to a patient before, but Danny sparks such heat in her that nights he comes to her in fervidly steamy dreams. A cop's widow and single parent, Molly is fiercely averse to the life of worry that loving a police officer entails. And Danny isn't any cop. He's the son of a retired police commissioner and one of six siblings who are all law enforcers. After a bitter divorce Danny is convinced that a cop's job and married life doesn't mix--until he meets the bossy, irresistible Molly Jordan who throws medical orders at him that he has no intentions of following.

May 28, 2009: The first installment in the Sullivan Boys series, Against Doctors Orders by K.M. Daughters, successfully unites the cops-versus-killer, edge-of-your-seat thrills of suspense with the pulse quickening, face-flushing sizzle of romance.

We meet Lieutenant Daniel Sullivan clinging to life with a bullet wound in his neck. As the attending ER specialist, Doctor Molly Jordan's job is to stabilize Sullivan's condition for surgery. Even in his half-conscious state, Sullivan can't help but flirt with the beautiful, blonde doctor. Molly does her best to see Daniel as any another patient. However, the combination of his self-confidence and vulnerability awakens her long silent sexuality. Sullivan, despite his injury, pours on the charm; delighting in the obvious effect he has on the physician.

Meanwhile, a sadistic killer carries on his brutal campaign. The Henna Housewife Killer stalks and murders red-headed housewives. As a homicide Detective, Danny won't sit for a prolonged recovery.

Molly and Daniel cross paths again and again. Neither can ignore the growing sexual heat, nor admit they feel much more than passion. Both have built up walls to protect themselves. Molly is a police officer's widow. She won't allow herself to love another cop. Daniel's wife divorced him for another man. He can't trust women with his heart. He has a serial killer to catch and no time for the strong-minded doctor. She has a stress-filled career and a preteen daughter. Will the two lower their defences and let each other in? Will they give love another chance?

Daughters has crafted an intriguing story, full of detailed scenes and fascinating, believable characters. Crisp dialogue and an even balance of action and drama keep the pages turning.

If men enjoy mystery as much as woman love romance, then Daughters may have created the best of both worlds. The only problem could arise when it comes to deciding who reads the next Sullivan Boys novel first.him or her.

I highly recommend Against Doctors Orders and I look forward to the sequels. 5 Stars.
