A Tribute to Professor Semyon M. Meerkov on his 70th Birthday

This volume grew out of the friendship and appreciation that the editors
and contributors have for Professor Semyon M. Meerkov as a scholar and
mentor. Its purpose is to highlight the mentorship achievements of Professor
Meerkov and to honor him on the occasion of his 70th birthday.
It consists of a collection of 15 scientifi c papers written by system scientists who carried out their doctoral work under the guidance of Professor
Meerkov. Its organization refl ects the diverse nature of Professor Meerkov's
contributions to Systems Theory. Accordingly, the volume is organized in
four parts: Control, Communication Networks, Production Systems and
Rational Behavior.
