October 02, 2005: I buy most Photoshop books, figuring if there's just one or two good ideas in any book I'm ahead of the game. Of course, in many books there are dozens of good ideas. Photoshop has inspired a lot of excellent books, and a far smaller number that aren't very good. But if you're the least bit serious about PS Ben Willmore books are the best. For creativity, fresh concepts, practical uses, clear explanations, inspirational triggers and good writing, for me, there's Willmore and then everyone else. He seems to live in the program, but never forgets that the reason it exists is to make more creative, effective and better illustrations. You should also own McCelland, Blatner/Fraser, Evening, Kelby, O'Quinn, Margulis, Monroy and others, but you must own Willmore.
