Description:This is the ninth edition of an admirable general neurology textbook which balances a general approach to understanding neurologic diseases with description of specific diseases. The eighth edition was published in 2005.
Purpose:The purpose is to convey basic principles from the neurosciences while emphasizing the importance of a correct history and examination in order to understand neurological diseases. This book should be an essential element in the library of both young and seasoned clinicians. The authors have created a book which teaches an approach to understanding neurologic diseases generally and specifically.
Audience:This is a book that is equally important for young clinicians (general medical and neurological) and seasoned practitioners.
Features:The book balances broad coverage of the spectrum of neurological diseases with a model for approaching patients with neurological illnesses. This balance is the most important aspect of the book. The first chapter (on the approach to the patient with neurologic disease) should be required reading for medical students and neurology house officers. It distills the wisdom of its thoughtful and experienced authors.
