    Synopsis

Designed to help Advanced Placement students succeed in their studies and achieve a ‘5’ on the AP Exam, AP Achiever for European History provides:

    • A thorough explanation of course expectations, exam parameters, preparation suggestions, as well as comprehensive tips on writing essays for the document-based and free-response section of the Exam, all to help your students maximize studies and time.
    • Each chapter includes a thorough content review and “Heads Up!” and “Sidebar” sections designed to connect important topics, clarify common misunderstandings, or add important information to assist in preparation for the exam. This book covers standard political, diplomatic, economic, and intellectual trends, but also makes a special effort to incorporate essential social and cultural history that is increasingly emphasized on the exam. Multiple-choice, document-based questions and free-response questions with detailed answers are included for each chapter.
    • Two complete timed practice exams with detailed answers and sample essays help students gear up for your final test day.

AP Achiever for European History may be used independently or in conjunction with any European History text. For the most benefit use in conjunction with McGraw-Hill’s leading text, History of the Modern World, 10th Edition, by Palmer.

August 13, 2009: Last year as I began taking AP Euro both my teacher and past students strongly recommended a review book. I was overwhelmed by how many choices there were as far as review books there are, but chose AP Achiever because I had heard others recommend it. I'm so glad I bought this book. It was a great way to review before the chapter tests, but became most important towards the end of the year, right before the AP Exam. My class had pretty much ran out of time and we were on our own to learn all material after WWII. I didn't have to time to read the textbook and instead turned to AP Achiever to learn the new material and review the old right before the exam. I guess it worked because I scored a 5! I would recommend this book to any AP Euro student.

June 01, 2008: As an AP European History student, this review book proved to be a vital asset. I often found myself reading chapters out of the review book rather than the school's book for the simple reason that AP Achiever was concise yet detailed. The author didn't drag on like in the school's book, and information that otherwise would have had me drawing blanks was displayed in a down-to-earth fashion. AP Achiever saved me hours of my life that otherwise would have been spent staring blankly at an odd-smelling textbook. In addition to that, the practice tests and sample essays proved to be a valuable asset in preparing for tests. I recommend it to any student interested in taking AP European History.
