      Too Violentby avid_reader1590

August 01, 2009: I started reading this book to my four year old grandson but after going from story to story and realizing that most of the stories ended with someone dying or being eaten I quickly put it away. I know that fairy tales are generally violent but most books written for the younger set are "sugar coated" or even changed to keep from freaking out the kid. I will wait until he is much older to read this to him.

A nice collection, some stories are a little graphicby storymama

February 09, 2009: This was a nice gift for my daughter. The stories are classic and good for bedtime. We found we needed to edit some of the stories, as they are true to the original form and a little graphic. ie: Tom Thumb gets swallowed by a wolf, and the father kills the wolf with an axe and cuts Tom out of it's stomach. Traditional Brothers Grimm yes...good for little minds trying to get to sleep... no. Not a problem at this age so far, we just leave that part out while we're reading.
