The tenth anniversary edition of Julie Czerneda's debut science fiction novel, the story of a woman on the run, from the law, her own people, and an unknown pursuer. Her memory taken from her by a stasis block, Sira must stay free long enough to regain her identity and the full use of her telepathic powers-for failure may cost not only her own future but that of her entire race.

April 23, 2003: I began reading this author with her book 'In the Company of Others'. Her writing style is interesting, in that you see the story progressing from many points of view, but all first person. The same writing style was employed in this novel, and this communicated the story very effectively. You become entwined with the characters, and I can't wait to start the second book, to see what and who the main character becomes. Also, I couldn't put the book down, as the pace of the story allows no respite for a breather, but is something that I had to finish in one sitting. I was carried along in the story, on the adventure, and for me, this is one of the best things that can recommend a story!

September 10, 2000: A woman with amnesia and on the run is forced to seek the aid of a space ship captian who might be the last person she can trust. This is a book that was difficult to put down. The twist and turns are wonderful. It has a little bit of everything. The sequel is equally engaging.
