November 20, 2009: I read this book without knowing about the Oprah shows... When I recommended this book to my uncle, he told me about all the hoopla. I really don't care whether this book is fiction or non-fiction.

This is an outstanding book - it is graphic, tragic and completely unpredictable til the end. There is a standout scene in the book when the boy sees a dentist. That is all I am going to say about the scene, but it made my skin crawl BIG time...such a well written book!
