(Hardcover - Anniversary Edition)
This special edition celebrates the twentieth anniversary of one of Joan Walsh Anglund’s best-loved books for children and adults.
Text and illustrations describe what a friend is.
This classic message about friendship is reissued in a 50 year Anniversary Edition with a gold cover. Every other ink line drawing is colored in with green and brown. One girl swings and another dangles her feet in a brook. One boy reads while another plays with a cat. Other children attend a parade and have a picnic. Friends are not only people and animals but a tree, a brook, and the wind. Sometimes one has to slow down to find a friend and "look around carefully, to see someone who smiles at you in a special way…" The final message is, "…everyone in the whole world has at least one friend." As a gift, this book is a thoughtful way for people of all ages to express friendship. Reviewer: Carlee Hallman

April 06, 2009: I found this little book, again, and smiled. I remember when I was quite young reading this book and it opened my eyes to just how many people's lives I touch without intending to. Today, as an adult, I give it as a gifts to friends to remind them of the same fact I learned years ago-We affect so many people and often never know just how many people care about us.
