    Synopsis

Addressing the task of disciplining children ages 2 through 12 without arguing, yelling, or spanking, this audio program offers easy-to-follow steps to immediately manage troublesome behavior with reason, patience, and compassion. Parents and teachers learn how to encourage and respect children’s growing independence with 10 strategies for building self-esteem. Also discussed are the three most important qualities for parents or teachers to exhibit in order to foster competence in kids. Tips are included on how to prevent homework arguments, make mealtimes more enjoyable, conduct effective family meetings, and encourage children to start doing their household chores. An award-winning program discusses the importance of establishing and maintaining a home or classroom with fair and consistent discipline, this revised edition includes suggestions on how to avoid over-parenting, build children’s social skills, and apply the program within mental health agencies and classrooms.

Great Book In Dealing With My 'Difficult' Two-Year Old!by JKSmethers

April 06, 2009: This book was recommended to me because my two year old has a somewhat difficult temperament and after buying a copy and reading it through, I couldn't thank my friend enough. I began implementing the techniques right away and thankfully my daughter was extremely responsive. We did run into some resistance later on, but have stayed on track with the counting and seem to be returning to even ground. There are a lot of good techinques for older children as well, which don't apply to us right now but we look forward to using them in the future. Overall I really enjoyed this book and thought it has some very usable ideas.

    It Really Is Magic!by RAsMom

March 18, 2009: My son is 26 months old and I was a little skeptical about him really understanding this program well enough for it to work. I was wrong! After a few timeouts, he figured it out and now complies with most of my requests by the time I count to 2. The hidden benefit of this program is how calm I feel now. I used to get so upset with him and yell at him, but I'm able to stay quiet and calm and it makes me feel like a better mom. I would recommend this book to anyone.
