New York Times Book Review

Crowded with impossibilities as the tale is, Mr. Burroughs has told it so well, and has so succeeded in carrying his readers with him, that there are few who will not look forward eagerly to the promised sequel. --New York Times review, May 1915; Books of the Century

January 23, 2008: I first read 'Tarzan of the Apes' when I was 10 years old and occasionally still pull it out to re-read 44 years later. One of life's little pleasures! It is a story of noble character & great adventure. So different than the movie versions. Give it a try!

May 04, 2005: I really enjoyed reading this book beacase it wasnt something that could happen to a person in every day life and I also enjoyed it because it had some unexpected turns that I did not expect. My favorite character in this book was Tarzan of the apes because of what of what he went through and overcame but also because of some of the unnatural superhuman things he could do . The main conflict of the book had to do with Tarzan being accepted as one of the apes because he obvously was not an ape but in the end he becomes accepted and also becomes king of the apes
