    Synopsis

The haunting, unforgettable, ice-blooded thriller that introduced Lucas Davenport is so chilling that you're almost afraid to turn the pages and so mesmerizing you cannot stop.

    Annotation

Louis "Maddog" Vullion is a young attorney . . . and a murderer. He kills for the sheer contest, playing an elaborate game for which he has written terrifying rules. Police Lt. Lucas Davenport, a brilliant games inventor, is going to have to outmaneuver the killer's clever plan--to beat the mad dog at his own deadly craft.

    Stephen King

Sleek and nasty...A big scary, suspenseful read, and I loved every minute of it.

Customer Rating for this product is 3 out of 5 Lucas is just to cocky, unbelievable

I was looking for an author to fill the void between Connelly novels and a few folks recommended Sandford. I think his writing style is similar, well thought out and the plots-twists were all nicely done. However the main character Lucas Davenport is just to over the top. While others in his later books have said the same thing this title was just to much. Davenport just makes it to hard to get a good feel for the character and run with it. I tried two other books of his since this one and they were better but Davenport has issues or the author has deep seeded issues he works out in his novels. Its a bit disappointing because the thrill you get reading the book is immediately taken away whenever Davenport opens his mouth to talk to a someone (especially a woman) or interview wit's. I know its fiction but it needs to be believable to stay in tune in my opinion and Sandford has problems doing this for me.
