Synopsis

There's a new vampire in town. His name is Valentine Maxwell. Goth-girl Raven knows this latest intruder can only mean trouble—he's the younger sibling of two vampires she fought to drive out of Dullsville. But when her brother, Billy, befriends this dangerous tween night prowler, the stakes are suddenly higher. Though torn by the excitement of every teen girl's fantasy—attending the prom with her boyfriend—Raven must do everything she can to protect Billy.

Valentine's appearance may pose even further threats. Could he somehow know Raven's innermost feelings about becoming immortal for her true love, Alexander? The far-from-ordinary romance of these two teen outsiders takes another surprise-filled spin in the fourth book of Ellen Schreiber's applauded Vampire Kisses series.

Children's Literature

In this, the 4th book in the "Vampire Kisses" series, Raven and her vampire boyfriend, Alexander, have run off Jagger and Luna, but now they face a new, and yet frighteningly familiar enemy. Jagger and Luna Maxwell's pre-teen brother, Valentine, has prematurely escaped the confines of his Romanian coffin and is now on the prowl in Dullsville. Valentine's targets seem very specific. He pursues Raven's family, especially her younger brother, Billy. Her parents are enamored of this young man, who is a surprisingly different choice of friend for Billy. Raven and Alexander must go to great lengths to discover Valentine's true motives for being in Dullsville and separate Valentine and Billy before Billy becomes one of the undead. At the same time, Raven struggles with normal teenage challenges—like asking her boyfriend to a school dance. She also faces some not so normal challenges. How can she decorate her locker with pictures of Alexander? Can she leave her family behind to start her life with Alexander, and is that what she really wants? It is an entertaining, quick read for lovers of gothic or vampire stories. It has elements of romance without being too mushy. Reluctant readers will enjoy the novel's fast pace, but may be turned off by the occasional challenging vocabulary.

Customer Rating for this product is 5 out of 5 This book rocked my world!!!!!!!!!!!!
A reviewer, romace book lover and fantasy, 08/18/2008

This book is as greast as the previous ones and i still dont get why people dont like it. But in this book alexander is as romantic and mysterious as ever. i hope someday i will find a guy just like him. Oh, and by the way this book is a little mushy for people that hate romance books but it also has its bone chilling moments and i wan to say as soon as i read the first one i was thirsting for more. My mom ordered it online but it seemed like an eternity until it actually arrived '2 weeks'. I was so overjoyed i nearly cryed. Raven is a good charecter but there never seems to be enough fight between her and trever than in the first book. But i hope raven stays with alexander becasue they make a great goth couple. lol.

I am usually a huge fan of this series but after awhile it kinda gets...boring. I mean i love Raven and Alexander but Raven seems so clingy and totally attached to Alexanders hip all the time. I just say that it was good and vampire readers should look into it. Maybe you'll like it. It was okay enough for me to read the next book, The Coffin Club. I also don't like how EVERY single main character is 'goth', i don't like lables but thats what she says. I mean in The Coffin Club, Raven meets 2 girls. They are 'goth'. In the manga book Alexanders cousin and all his friends are 'goth'. It just kind of predictable now. I like that Raven is differant and i admire her style but it seems every other person who doesnt live in Dullsville, is 'goth'. Well, just look into it. It was a good series overall. She has more coming!
